Charity: Operation Support our Troops - Illinois
As a mother, Deb Rickert has three sons, with two currently serving in the Army. One son is a West Point graduate, and the other is currently enrolled in Army ROTC. In 2003 Deb gathered a few friends and started to send "goodie boxes" from her garage to our troops in harm’s way. This seed of an idea has grown into a quality organization which sends thousands of boxes to our troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other military installations every year.
Since Deb and her friends started Operations Support Our Troops, Illinois, the organization, with Deb’s love and direction, has sent over 15,000 boxes of various items to our men and women serving in the armed services. It is mainly through her efforts that this organization exists, and is able to continue to show support for our troops, and their loved ones back home.
Deb is one of the hardest working, focused, and affable people I have ever had the honor to work with. She volunteers hundreds of hours a year fund raising, and guiding the organization to give our troops a little touch of home, and to let them know that they are loved and respected by people back home.
